The 'work' has begun..........
Golfboy : CPrint, 2001
I have nothing against golf, even if I do think it can ruin a good walk.
Despite this and even having to confess to having attempted to play a couple of rounds and having an enduring fascination with the construction of the humble golf ball, I have felt compelled to protest against the plans of business tycoon Donald Trump to turn SSSI site - beautiful dunes on the Menie Estate just north of Aberdeen city into 'the greatest golf course in the world'- forcing wildlife and humans from their homes enroute.
Yesterday I joined several hundred others who gathered for a walk along the dunes to try to keep this issue in the public eye and remind DT and his sidekicks that his actions are morally questionable.
As my friend June( who was also on the walk) asks " How can anyone with a combover hairdo be trusted?"
The well documented dodgy dealings of this entrepreneur, have however not stopped Robert Gordon's University issuing him with an honourary degree. Las week RGU presented Mr Trump with a Doctorate in Business Administration.
As a graduate of RGU, I feel deep disappointment- to say the least!

The walk from Balmedie Nature Reserve Centre to "The Bunker"....
a beauiful walk already blighted by
bulldozers.... complete with press.
Shortly after ariving I realise this was the very same place where 10 years previously I participated in 'Merge" :a site reponsive project , where a number of artists installed work across the Dunes and invited the public to visit over a weekend.
Perhaps it's time for another art event here?
One of the Merge organisers, Loiuse Ewan, was present yesterday at the March of Menie. Her grandparents at one time owned a charming railway carriage on the site which they used for many years as holiday home
The caravan was removed three years ago...they were the first to be displaced....
Bob Menlove contacted me having remembered Merge and has since made e slide show from some of the images , including the lovely railway carriage,he took which can be viewd here >>>>>>
