Selected from a body of work produced in the studio
between 2000 - 2002 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
With the exception of marble selected from Leadmore Quarry near Ullapool in the NW of Scotland, all the stone was gathered while walking in Aberdeenshire. Exploring the local landscape on foot searching for inspirational stones was central to my practice at this time.
The studio was close to my home 1000ft up from the nearest village and we were often in or even above the cloudline.
Grampian TV visited the studio to film an interview with me for a televised documentary which explored the affects of weather on human activity, entited, "Weather Permitting"

Rows and flows of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons everywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and dance on everyone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
Its cloud illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all.
